Research

Shimpei Miyagawa is an ethnographer studying organizations by living and working with the research subjects in order to examine the actual experiences and meanings of communal practices. Even though his corporate experiences were with multinational corporations, his current focus is on investigating the peripheries of modern Japanese society such as traditional Japanese craft sectors, communes and regional revitalization planning in rural communities.

Previous Appointments:

Prior to joining TUJ, Shimpei Miyagawa was a consultant working with major Japanese corporations in the consumer goods, electronics, automobile, medical device and food & beverage industries. His teaching experiences include three different high schools, two different graduate schools in business and ten years of executive education.
