Online and Hybrid courses follow the same registration procedure as on-campus classes. You will register for classes in the TUPortal .
Make sure you've spoken to your TUJ Academic Advisor before registering for online or hybrid courses. There are some cases where due to student visa status, for example, you may need to limit the number of online courses you take in a given term.
When registering for classes in TUPortal, you can refine your search by selecting specific Instructional Methods. To find online and hybrid courses at TUJ, follow these steps during your course search:
-
Select the Campus: Japan
-
Narrow your search by Instructional Methods. The choices for online courses are:
-
Online w/ required scheduled meetings
These fully online courses require you to attend live class sessions on Zoom at consistent days and times each week. Sometimes courses may incorporate both synchronous and asynchronous components. -
Online - no scheduled meetings
These fully online courses do not have set days or times that you have to attend class on campus or online -- meaning they are delivered asynchronously. All teaching and course activities take place in the learning management system, Canvas, and not in real-time via Zoom. You will have specific deadlines for readings, course content, and assignments each week. -
Mix of In-person and Online
These hybrid courses combine required in-person classes on campus at designated days and times, along with online components on other days that can be synchronous, asynchronous, or both.
