TUJ celebrates women in the arts in Japan and beyond
In conjunction with a season of events surrounding Women’s Day, TUJ art and art history program bring you a Wikipedia Editathon via Art + Feminism.
Join us in this international movement, expanding and updating Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art, gender and feminism.
EVERYONE is welcome! People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate. No previous experience necessary. Come and learn to edit and make a difference.
Why a Wikipedia edit-a-thon?
Because Wikipedia has a well documented gender problem.
Wikipedia is the largest and most popular general reference work on the internet with more than 40 million articles in more than 250 different languages. Love it or hate it, Wikipedia is the go-to information source for most of the planet.
Yet only about 10% of authors identify as female and this inequity is reflected in Wikipedia's content. We need your help to add knowledge about women, gender, feminism, and the arts on one of the most visited websites in the world.
Join us for a virtual Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon on
February 19, 2022 from 10am–4pm JST.
What you need to participate
Wikipedia has different access levels to prevent spam. We highly recommend registering an account early so that your account reaches at least four days maturity (autoconfirmed status) by the time of the event.
On the day, you should have a computer and an internet connection. If you have books or magazines or access to online libraries that relate to topics you want to write about, those are useful too!
