Tokiyama is currently Program Director, Master in Management at Temple University, Japan Campus. She started her career as an RM in investment banking at BBVA, Mexico City, Mexico. Then went on to start a real estate portfolio that focuses on promoting community-based tourism and local businesses. Tokiyama has lived in Canada, United States, Mexico and Japan and speaks English, Japanese and Spanish. She has a bicultural heritage, from a Mexican and a Japanese parent, and is a mother of two.

Areas of active inquiry for Tokiyama include the transferrable skills from consulting management to entrepreneurship in Japan, her graduation project for her MBA at Waseda University.

Previous Appointments 

Before joining TUJ, Tokiyama was a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor at Hitotsubashi School of International Corporate Strategy. At Hitotsubashi she co-developed courses on Japanese business etiquette and sustainability. Tokiyama also served as the MBA Program Co-Coordinator and Marketing Communications Director.

Tokiyama serves as a board member of WaNavi Japan, an organization that empowers the international community in Japan through cultural sensitivity education and an external advisor to an NGO focusing on women’s empowerment through micro-finance and education.
