Dear TUJ Students:

As we move into the middle of fall semester, I hope that this email finds you well and enjoying fall semester classes. As we all work through the challenges posed by COVID-19, we are most grateful for your flexibility, patience, and understanding. If there is anything that we can do to assist you this semester, please do not hesitate to let us know. We are here to assist you.

Today, I wanted to share a few pieces of important information with you.

Spring Semester – January 18th start for Undergraduate & Bridge students

Please note that there has been a slight adjustment in our spring semester calendar for Undergraduate and Bridge students. This coming spring semester, classes will now start on January 18th (Monday) and end on April 23rd (Thursday). The updated schedule will be posted on our website shortly, but I wanted to make sure that you heard this directly from us first. This adjustment will help facilitate spring semester preparations and also provide additional flexibility for students. Based on recent pronouncements from the Japanese government and low number of COVID-19 cases in Japan, it appears likely that our overseas students will be able to join us in person for spring semester. This adjustment will help these students as they enter Japan under strict conditions. Of note, the revised academic calendar results in minimal disruption and ends only two days later than presently scheduled.

Note: The spring semester calendars for AEP, Graduate Education, Law, and Continuing Education programs differ from the Undergraduate and Bridge students.

TUJ-branded masks

As a token of our appreciation to you, we have asked a Japanese manufacturer to create to make TUJ-branded masks. These polyester-spandex masks will arrive in the next week or two. They will be white and marked with the TUJ logo similar to the drawing below. We are excited to offer degree seeking students one mask for FREE. Additional masks will be available for sale at the Information Center for students, family, friends, alumni, and others. We will be distributing these on campus so please stay tuned for additional details. (For TUJ students living in Japan who are not coming to campus this semester and for those students taking courses overseas, we are currently exploring ways to distribute masks to you as well.)
