Tokyo and Osaka will be operating under emergency decrees from midnight tonight through May 6th. The final list of institutions asked to close will not be published until Thursday, April 9th, and not go into effect until Friday, April 10th. We are certain, however, that all universities will be asked to suspend operation.

Therefore, from tomorrow, April 8th from 3:30pm at the latest, all TUJ administrative operations will be maintained online and the Tokyo and Osaka campuses closed for the emergency period.

Anyone who needs to retrieve anything of importance for your work or studies from the campus must do so between 9:30am and 3:30pm tomorrow, April 8th. Please do not come to the building unless it is absolutely necessary. If you do come to the campus to retrieve your work, please maintain distance from others in the building and wear a mask if possible. The campus will be closed from 3:30pm tomorrow.

Spring classes will continue to be taught online as they have since March 2nd.

I am encouraging everyone to please heed the declaration and stay at home and follow guidance related to social distancing, hand washing, wearing masks, etc.

The declaration will be in effect until the end of Golden Week on May 6th and we anticipate opening the new undergraduate semester as scheduled on May 25th.

The EMBA program will open online on May 2nd.

The LLM Program will start in-class on May 9th, unless otherwise notified.

Both the AEP and TESOL Programs will start in-class on May 7th unless otherwise notified.

All faculty and staff will be considered to be working at home as has been the case since March 30th.

I look forward to seeing you back on campus in a month. Until then, stay well and Ganbatte.
