To the TUJ Community

As you have noticed in President Englert’s and Provost Epp’s message to the Temple Community last week, Temple University main campus is postponing its May 7th Commencement.

I am sorry to tell you that we at TUJ will be following suit. The TUJ Commencement was scheduled for June 7th but we will postpone it until December, the specific date will be announced later. As TUJ is an integral part of Temple University, as Temple University's Commencement is to be postponed, it will be for all of the university, including TUJ.

In addition, although we certainly hope to be open for regular business and in-person classes in May and June, we cannot be 100% sure what conditions in Japan will be and so feel it best to be conservative. That includes the high probability of continuing restrictions on gatherings, and the inability of graduates’ friends and family to come to Japan.

However, I want to make it clear that all prospective Spring graduates who meet their academic requirements will earn their degrees as of the effective diploma date, May 7, 2020.

We will be reaching out soon to those students who will be graduating this year with further information.

Sincerely,

Bruce Stronach

Dean
