Why TUJ?: There was a point in my life where I felt I had lost my direction for the future. With serendipitous timing, I came across TUJ and it helped me find my way again. TUJ’s open and diverse environment really opened my eyes to the opportunities that come with developing my English skills and becoming trilingual (English, Japanese, and Mandarin). In addition, TUJ allowed me to continue pursuing my passion in art.
Advice for New Students?: Stepping out of your comfort zone and adapting to a whole new environment might be difficult, but I believe you can do it because you have already made it this far in your new journey! Challenge yourself and never give up.

Langdon
Major: International Business Studies
Hometown: Alaska, U.S.
Why TUJ?: Growing up in the United States, I had the incredible opportunity to study Japanese for half of my day in elementary school. When I learned about TUJ and the chance to live in Japan while still receiving a high-quality education from an American university, I was in awe. TUJ has since become my home away from home. The vibrant, welcoming community of students from all over the world is the reason I choose TUJ every single day.
Advice for New Students?: Be a sponge! Moving to a new country and attending TUJ will open up countless amazing opportunities. Embrace every experience, take advantage of the chance to meet new people, and be open to the many possibilities for personal and academic growth!

Kaulana
Major: International Affairs
Hometown: Hawaii, U.S.
Why TUJ?: During my senior year of high school, I worked with my college counselor to consider study options abroad. I believed that doing so would open doors to educational and career opportunities, and expose me to different cultures, and a variety of experiences. This desire led me to TUJ, which is renown for its American education in Japan. Now that I reflect back on my college journey, I can proudly say that it has far exceeded my expectations. TUJ has provided the perfect space for students from all cultural backgrounds to collaborate, exchange ideas, and pursue their educational goals alongside one another. Studying abroad can seem daunting at first and present many challenges, but I always encourage new students to take that same leap of faith I once did.
Advice for New Students?: Learn to fail or fail to learn! Expect to fail many times throughout your college journey, but rather than dwelling on it, embrace them! These difficult times play a crucial role in acting as your source of wisdom and will define your character.
