The Class Schedule provides students with simple pull-down menus that allows students to easily search for and select the classes they need each semester.

 Course Schedule

The steps below explain how to browse courses that are held in our campuses in Tokyo and Kyoto. Although we strive to keep this course list updated, scheduling changes may occur from time to time.

1. Select a Term

On the "Select a Term" page, click the dropdown menu and choose the appropriate term. Click the "Continue" button to proceed.

2. Browse Classes (i)

There are various search filters.  The main criteria include:
Subject: Select the subject you are interested in from the dropdown menu.
Course Number: Enter the specific course number if you know it.
Keyword: Enter keywords related to the course you are looking for or the CRN.
Campus: Select “Japan” for courses offered in-person at the Tokyo campus or any online courses. Select “Japan Kyoto” for courses offered in-person at Kyoto.*

*Students enrolled at Tokyo or Kyoto can register for courses being run online regardless of the campus they are enrolled in. All online classes are listed under the “Japan” campus.

Advanced Search: Click on the "Advanced Search" link to use additional search filters like instructor, meeting days, and class timings.

Once the search criteria are entered, click the "Search" button.

3. Browse Classes (ii) [Search Results]

The search results will display a list of classes that match the criteria.
Each class will show important details such as course title, section number, meeting times, instructor, and available seats (capacity).
Click on a class title to view more detailed information about the course, including prerequisites, course description, and any additional notes. The course description will often contain important notes. It is highly recommended that students check these notes for each course they are considering.

Understanding course modality

In the “Subject Course Section” all courses will end in a three-digit section number. The Section number can be used to determine if a course will be in-person, online or in a hybrid format:

(8XX) are held entirely in-person on campus at the scheduled days/times.
(75X) are held entirely online in Zoom at the scheduled days/times. If no days/times are listed, then the course is Asynchronous with no required live meetings, and all coursework is completed in Canvas.
(77X) are held in a hybrid format. Some days the class meets in-person on campus; other days it meets online in Zoom or it requires Asynchronous completion of coursework in Canvas (no live class meeting).

Tips for Course Registration Success

Plan Ahead: Review the course catalog and your degree requirements before starting the registration process.
Check Prerequisites: Ensure you meet the prerequisites for each course.
Be Aware of Deadlines: Keep track of registration dates and deadlines, such as the deadline to add, drop and withdraw from courses. These deadlines are always posted on the Academic Calendar.
Speak with your Academic Advisor: Undergraduate students in all majors at any level can get assistance from the Academic Advising Center (AAC, located on the 1st floor of TUJ) and their team of full-time professional academic advisors.
