Housing Options (TUJ Kyoto)

We are excited to offer University-sponsored housing options designed to make your transition to life in Kyoto stress-free. TUJ Kyoto housing consists entirely of single units, each equipped with a private kitchen. The rooms are fully furnished and include a refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, electric kettle, and basic kitchenware. TUJ has handled all the complexities of securing an apartment, including fees, key money, deposits, cleaning fees, contracts, paperwork, utilities, and Internet. All you need to do is apply for housing, and you'll be ready to enjoy Kyoto and the Kansai region of Japan.

Because of the convenience and amenities, we recommend these housing options for short-term study abroad students at TUJ Kyoto. Also, as students prepare to move back to Tokyo, please note that we will hold a Tokyo housing fair each semester.

Leo Palace Mitsuida

The Leo Palace Mitsuida building features our top class and most spacious residential living arrangements. TUJ offers 17 individual units that are fully furnished and considerably larger than regular residence rooms. This is a secure building featuring keyless entry.

The closest station to the building is Takeda on the Kintetsu Kyoto line. From Takeda station you can catch a train directly to the exciting opportunities surrounding Kyoto station in only 7 minutes. There is a convenience store 50 meters from the building. Supermarkets and parks are located nearby. The commute to TUJ Kyoto is 32 mins walking or approx 30 mins by bus/train.

Fastate Kyoto Station Woz

Fastate Kyoto Station Woz provides exceptional apartment living nearby the world-famous Tofukuji temple. This brand-new building was completed in August 2024.
The single housing units provide ultimate access to everything that Kyoto has to offer. In fact, you can walk to Kyoto Station in under 10 minutes. There is a convenience store just a 6-minute walk from the building and a large AEON mall less than a 20-minute stroll away. There are two parks within a 2-minute walk from the building. The beautiful Kamo river is a 3-minute walk.

There are two stations close to the building so the commute to TUJ Kyoto is only about 20 minutes. Kyoto station on the Karasuma line is 9 minute-walk away and Tofukuji on the Keihin main line is 10 minute-walk away.

Mukaijima Gakusei Center

The Mukaijima Gakusei Center was established to provide a comfortable living environment for international students in Kyoto. The Center has over 200 individual apartments for students spread over 3 buildings. TUJ shares this facility with other international students attending local Kyoto universities.

The Center offers cross-cultural and support programming for all its residents including monthly cultural activities as well as volunteer opportunities in the local community. Not only does each unit have its own kitchen, but the building also has a large shared community kitchen where you can cook with your friends and experience different cuisines from all over the world. The Center also offers a recreation room and study rooms as well as a full-service student services office, maintenance staff, and security guards.

The closest station to the facility is Mukaijima station on the Kintetsu Kyoto line. The train station is a 15-minute walk away. There is a convenience store just a few minutes walk from the center and a supermarket 7-minute walk away. The commute to TUJ KYOTO is about 35 minutes away by train.

International House (i-House)

International House (i-House) provides the perfect balance of convenience and tradition. Surrounded by many local shops and historical sites - it's an excellent base for students wanting to experience authentic Kyoto while staying connected to universities and city life. This is a brand-new building owned by TUJ in September 2025. You can walk to Sumizome Station in under 5 minutes and just one station away from Fujinomori Station — the nearest stop to the TUJ Kyoto — or an easy walk or bike ride to class.

Wisteria Kyoto Fukakusa

Wisteria Kyoto Fukakusa is a brand-new building which provides a larger TUJ Kyoto student community than other dorms and smooth journey around Kyoto. It is located between two stations (Takeda station and Fujinomori station) and multiple bus stops. Only one station away to Kyoto station from Takeda station if you take an express. Many restaurants, grocery stores and parks are nearby.

Aquaplace Kyoto Tofukuji is a brand-new building which provides convenient access to everything that Kyoto has to offer, and it is located in a quiet residential area. You can walk to Tofukuji Station in under 10 minutes, and it is a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station. Only four stations away from TUJ Kyoto from Tofukuji Station if you take Keihan Line.
