The Peer Mentorship program is a TUJ-wide initiative that offers 1:1 mentorship from multiple student support centers, including the Office of Student Services and Engagement, The Learning Center, Academic Advising Center, Career Development Office, and Counseling offices. Because of their first-hand experience navigating the university, Peer Mentors offer unique insights about campus life at TUJ from a student’s perspective.
AAC Peer Mentors provide support for students with questions related to academic planning, course registration, and their majors/minors/certificates. Students may expect to receive assistance from AAC Peer Mentors with academic matters, including but not limited to:
- Assistance with navigating student tools (e.g. TUPortal, DARS, Banner)
- General information regarding university policies, academic requirements, and registration
- Experience-based advice on academic planning, major choice, and use of academic supports (e.g. professors, student support centers)
- Referrals to campus resources (e.g. TLC, OSSE, Counseling Office, CDO, Accessibility Services, appropriate faculty members)
- Ideas for ways to communicate and build relationships with faculty, advisors, and other mentors
