In the Japanese Culture Club, we explore a new topic related to Japanese culture every week. We will learn about traditional Japanese arts, foods, fashion, activities, music, and historical sites, and experience them firsthand through workshops and field trips. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students and allies at TUJ and Showa Women’s University. We also want to raise awareness about LGBTQ+ issues to the greater student population. Here are some activities that we typically do:
~ Gathering and sharing resources on living as an LGBTQ+ individual in Japan
~ Discussing current topics relating to LGBTQ+ folk around the world
~ Organizing fun events to educate and exchange with the TUJ / SWU community, awareness campaigns and posters
~ Movie / TV show / anime etc screenings for the club and for campus members
~ Multiple events and activities for Pride Month
~ Outings to festivals and events
~ Social/friend-making activities to connect to other Queer + Allied students in TUJ and SWU

Our Chinese Language Club provides opportunities to learn Chinese and experience some cultural fun for students learning Chinese including beginners. We also have tutoring service by volunteers of native Chinese speakers to guide you to answer your questions about Chinese.
