What is priority registration?

Priority registration occurs over a period of days during which students are permitted to begin registration for the upcoming term(s).

The date on which a student becomes eligible to register is determined by number of earned credits or other criteria. “Earned credits” is determined by the total number of credits from courses that have been completed at Temple with grades between A and D- as well as transfer credits (if any). Courses taken in the current semester do not count.

Registration for each eligible group of students noted in the tables below begins at 7:00 a.m. (JST) unless noted otherwise. Registration takes place in Self Service Banner (SSB) available via TUportal.

When a desired course’s seat capacity is “closed” (full), students may add their names on the course’s waiting list through the “Waitlist” feature on Self-Service Banner (SSB). Please note that this feature is only available from the time a course becomes closed until the waitlist “purge” (deletion) date. After the purge date passes, all waitlists are permanently deleted.

Registration PIN

A 6-digit PIN code is required to process any registration for students currently in the categories below.

  • Students (transfer and freshman) who are currently in their first semester of enrollment at TUJ
  • Students with an academic status of “Academic Warning”
  • Non-degree students

To receive this PIN, students must meet with their academic advisor to discuss their course registration plans for the upcoming semester(s).

Students with an academic status of “Academic Probation” or “Academic Extended Probation” also have a registration PIN code. However, these students cannot make registration changes themselves. Any registration changes for students on Academic Probation must be made by their academic advisor.
