Bridge Program students can "complete" the program in 2 ways:
- Pass Bridge 3. This means students receive satisfactory grades and assessments in all 7 of their courses taken during Bridge 3. “Satisfactory” means at least a C grade in all credit-bearing courses (or at least an overall grade-point average of 2.0) and assessments in non-credit-bearing courses that suggest students have successfully met all minimum expectations.
- Test out with a new standardized English test submission. Please see this website for current TUJ eligibility requirements for English language proficiency scores:
https://www.tuj.ac.jp/ug/admissions/how-to-apply/eligibility-requirements.
- These test scores should be received by TUJ by the "Semester End" date of the semester prior to the one in which you hope to be matriculated. If test scores are received after this date, there is no guarantee that the matriculation review can be done in time for the beginning of the next semester. To find the "Semester End" date, review TUJ's Academic Calendar here:

If students "complete" the program using either method 1 or 2 and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, they should expect to be matriculated in the following semester. "Matriculated students" are those who have applied, been accepted, and enrolled in a degree program of the University. Once matriculation is officially processed, students may not return to non-matriculated basis. Petitions for an exception based on an extraordinary circumstance must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of TUJ.
However, if students have below a 2.0 cumulative GPA upon "completing" the Bridge Program, they will immediately continue on as non-matriculated students. "Non-matriculated students" are those who have not been admitted formally to a degree program. Degree-seeking non-matriculated undergraduate students are required to apply for admission to a degree program before they complete 30 credits. The TUJ Admissions Office will determine whether or not applicants will be admitted to TUJ based upon the University's admission policies. For more information, review this website:
