On July 1st, over 500 TUJ students and community members gathered on campus to celebrate the TUJ Summer Matsuri. The event featured exciting performances, games, delicious food, and various vendors.
Running from 4 PM to 7 PM in both the Parliament and Cafeteria, the evening kicked off with a performance by the TUJ Music Club, followed by the student group Holiday Blanks. Attendees enjoyed takoyaki, yakisoba, okonomiyaki, and shaved ice while cheering for their friends. Special guest band Slimy Morning also performed and sold their new CDs, before the TUJ Dance Club closed the Parliament stage with an energetic performance.
The Cafeteria buzzed with games, and the Program Board was proud to see many local families and children embracing the Summer Matsuri spirit. Activities included a scavenger hunt, senbei decorating, duck shooting, pool scooping, ring toss, and a raffle organized by the Community Committee. Additionally, the Japanese Culture Club offered yukata try-ons and kitsune mask painting.
In the courtyard, TUJPB proudly hosted two food trucks: Rocco’s, serving delicious Mexican food, and Papa Crêpe, offering sweet and savory crêpes for guests to enjoy.
Thank you to all the students and community members who attended the Summer Matsuri. We look forward to seeing you all at future Program Board events!
