On November 14th, 2024, TUJ LEAD fellows and the LEAD Student Council held ‘Desi Night,’ where students of all backgrounds gathered to celebrate and appreciate Desi culture. The term ‘Desi’ refers to the diverse people and cultures from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

The evening began with a game called ‘Guess the Song,’ where participants tested their knowledge of popular Desi songs. Two students took home prizes for giving the quickest answers and kicked off the night. The LEAD fellows presented fun slides introducing the countries comprising Desi culture, carefully explaining the diversity in clothing, food, and much more.

One of the highlights of the evening was the King Stop game, where students engaged each other in a physical competition to catch each other’s shoes. Participants who signed up for the event also received special snack boxes. Desi Night celebrated TUJ Desi students’ shared heritage and showcased TUJ’s unique strength in our multicultural community.
