Analytical Reading & Writing is intended to teach students how to:
Organize ideas in a coherent and logical manner;
Connect multiple texts through an issue or an idea;
Identify authors' key arguments;
Create and defend arguments of one's own; and
Demonstrate correct grammar, syntax and acknowledgment of sources.

Required Course: 1 course, 4 credits
Note: All students are required to take the English placement test before registering for GW courses. See the New Student Orientation section for more information about the placement exam. This course should be taken in the first semester, if not, in the first year.
