The Arashiyama area in western Kyoto is best known for its idyllic Bamboo Forest & Tenryu-ji Zen temple, a World Heritage Site. Less known & nestled in the forests of Arashiyama mtn itself is Senko-ji, a temple with an intriguing & completely dierent story… Join us on Sat, Oct. 4th for a 15min walk along the picturesque ‘other side’ of Hozu River, reverently climb its 200 steps to take in a panoramic view of the Kyoto valley, hear an illuminating talk by the temple’s abbot sharing insights into Zen meditative practice, and each get to ring the temple bell, listening to its resonant sound ripple across the valley with the Hozu river meandering below. Suffciently intrigued? Register & come along for this unique afternoon experience.
