Dr. Sergiy Korsunsky is Distinguished Global Scholar and Special Advisor to President. This appointment brings exceptional diplomatic insight and global perspective to the university community. A career diplomat and internationally recognized expert in geopolitics, security, and economic statecraft, Dr. Korsunsky most recently served as Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan from 2020 to 2025. During the critical period following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, he played a pivotal role in strengthening Ukraine–Japan relations and advancing international cooperation in the face of unprecedented global challenges. Dr. Korsunsky’s distinguished career spans senior diplomatic postings in the United States, Turkey, and Israel, as well as leadership of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine. A scholar with a doctorate in applied mathematics and author of more than 300 academic and policy publications, he bridges deep analytical expertise with real-world policy experience across global security, energy, trade, and technology. His longstanding engagement with TUJ, through lectures, student mentorship, and collaboration in support of displaced Ukrainian students, reflects a shared commitment to global citizenship and academic excellence.
