Jiri Mestecky is a Registered Foreign Attorney (Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi) and Partner with the Japanese law firm of Kitahama Partners. He is based in Kitahama Partners’ main office located in Osaka but also spends time in their Tokyo office. Mr. Mestecky is an attorney registered in the State of Illinois and spent six years working for a U.S. law firm in Chicago prior to joining Kitahama Partners in 2003. He specializes in international intellectual property, corporate, and commercial transactions.
Mr. Mestecky has previously served as a Governor and Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) and also as the head of the ACCJ’s Kansai Chapter. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of ACCJ Kansai as a Special Advisor.
In addition to being an Adjunct Faculty member of Temple University Japan/Beasley School of Law, Mr. Mestecky has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law and School of Business and Accounting of Kwansei Gakuin University, as well as at the Konan University Law School and Osaka University Law School. He has also served for many years as a Guest Lecturer for the Kyoto Seminar/Introduction to Japanese Law Program sponsored by the Ritsumeikan University Law School. He is the author and co-author of a number of books and articles regarding U.S. and Japanese legal issues.
