TUJ full-time faculty contracts are for fixed terms and may be extended after successful review. In accordance with university standards and Japanese law, successful full-time faculty are eligible for an indefinite contract after five years.

Salary & Benefits
In accordance with the pay scale determined and used in this program. Support is also offered for conferences, travel, and other research/creative related expenses. Annual bonuses may be possible.
Overview of TUJ and the Computer Science Program
The Computer Science Program at TUJ invites applications for a student-centered full-time faculty member to start in the Fall of 2026.

TUJ offers undergraduate programs to a broad mix of over 3,300 Japanese and non-Japanese degree-seeking students who will earn their degrees from Temple University through the Japan campus. Every semester, additional undergraduate students from Temple’s main campus and other universities converge on our campus for a short-term study abroad experience.
In one of the most dynamic cities in the world, we offer twelve full undergraduate majors ranging from Art to International Business to Psychological Studies. Our faculty and staff are international, with nearly 100 full-time faculty joined by experienced administrators and many part-time adjunct faculty from the professions, business, and the arts. TUJ holds classes in the fall and spring semesters (15 weeks) and over a well-enrolled 10-week summer semester.
Overview of Positions
Faculty members at TUJ have the opportunity to teach a diverse student body from around the world. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach any course at the undergraduate level in addition to courses in their area of expertise. Candidates may be asked to teach traditional in-person, online, or Hyflex classes. The successful candidate will collaborate with the department coordinator on yearly course offerings and assist with planning the department’s two-year course rotation.
Our ideal candidate is a passionate teacher and researcher in Computer Science who is enthusiastic about contributing to a dynamic and globally diverse academic environment. Given the interdisciplinary nature of computing and the evolving needs of our department, we are especially interested in candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or closely related fields. Areas of focus might include, but are not limited to machine learning, cybersecurity, data science, software systems, human-computer interaction, or computing education. Applicants should demonstrate a strong foundation in both research and teaching and must have familiarity with and experience in the U.S. higher education system.
Qualifications & Experience
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Commitment to students and their success
- Fluency in English
- A solid record of research, a strong publication profile and/or an ongoing research agenda (preferred)
- Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods (preferred)
- International experience (preferred)
