- No Friday classes. TUJ KYOTO will operate on a flexible 4-day class schedule enabling you to take advantage of our activities and cultural excursions every Friday, focus on an internship, or simply to explore the surrounding area.
- Top professors. Learn from experts such as Dr. Yukari Sato (famous Japanese female lawmaker), Matt Wray (2023 Winner of Temple University’s Great Teacher Award), and others. We anticipate bringing in leaders from industry and government for you to meet.
- Global Leadership Academy (GLA). TUJ will be opening a new leadership academy modeled after the Emerging Leadership Program in Tokyo. Anyone studying in Kyoto will be eligible to apply for admission into the GLA. This is a great to earn 3-credits, enhance your resume, make connections within the Kansai community, develop leadership skills, and experience more of Japan.
- Opportunities. Take advantage of internships in the Kansai region. Explore the World Expo slated to start in Osaka from April 2025. Enjoy cherry blossom season in the heart of Japan. Experience endless festivals that people from around the world flock to see. For housing, you will have a variety of options to select from including private apartments, shared apartments, and dorm-style rooms.
- Flexibility. While taking advantage of in-person courses in our new facilities in Kyoto, you can also take an online class or two from our Tokyo campus.
- Explore Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and more. Kyoto provides a captivating background for academic exploration. Located just 30 minutes from Osaka, Kyoto is a city of allure and enchantment. It is known for its beautiful landscapes, stunning architecture, delicious food, and friendly people. Our new Kyoto campus offers an exceptional chance for students to immerse themselves in a wealth of Japanese traditions, culture, art, historical sites, temples, shrines, tea houses, and more.
- Be the FIRST EVER. Distinguish yourself by being part of the first class of Temple students to ever study at TUJ KYOTO.
We invite you to be part of an extraordinary journey at TUJ KYOTO, where education and engagement know no borders. Our new Kyoto location is located on the same road and just a 12-minute walk away from one of the most famous spots in Japan – Fushimi Inari Shrine.
As Japan’s eighth largest city, Kyoto has been named as the “Best Big City in the World” recently. It is a base for many high-technology industries and commerce, including the world headquarters of Nintendo. At the same time, Kyoto’s atmosphere is distinct from bustling metropolises like Tokyo. Kyoto has long been an inspiration for artists, writers, students, and scholars. Its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant autumn foliage, and well-preserved historic districts offer a visually stunning backdrop for TUJ students looking to draw inspiration from their surroundings.
Kyoto is a very livable and affordable city blessed with charm and magnetism that attracts over 50 million tourists annually. Surrounded by picturesque mountains and blessed by serene gardens and scenic landscapes, Kyoto can provide a peaceful escape. Its commitment to preserving Japanese culture allows TUJ students to engage deeply with authentic practices while acquiring the tools necessary to succeed in a global environment.
As TUJ takes its next leap forward by expanding into Kyoto, you have the unparalleled opportunity to dive into an international environment while immersing yourself in innovative concepts, cutting-edge approaches, and historical traditions.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and working with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Matthew Wilson
