BORROWING RULES

Current Undergraduate and Bridge students have the following borrowing privileges:

Check out Period

You can borrow most items for 8 weeks from the library. DVDs can be borrowed for 7 days.

Number of Items

You can borrow up to 20 books at a time, and 3 DVDs at a time.

Renewals

Books can be renewed (extended) for an additional 8 weeks, or until the end of the term -- whichever comes first.
If another patron has requested the item, you may not be able to renew the book.
DVDs cannot be renewed.

You can borrow most items for 1 semester. DVDs can be borrowed for 7 days.

You can borrow up to 20 books at a time, and 3 DVDs at a time.

Renewals

Books can be renewed (extended) for the following term, if you’re registered for classes in the following term.
If another patron has requested the item, you may not be able to renew the book.
DVDs cannot be renewed.

Alumni, Continuing Education students, University Partners, Setagaya residents (over 16 years old) and High School Partners have the following library privileges:

Number of Items

You can borrow up to 3 books at a time, and 3 DVDs at a time.

Renewals

Books can be renewed (extended) for an additional 4 weeks.
If another patron has requested the item, you may not be able to renew the book.
DVDs cannot be renewed.

PLACE A HOLD

TUJ Students, faculty and registered guests may request the library to pull available materials from the shelf and hold the items for you. Holds will be kept behind the front desk for 7 days. Thereafter, held items will be returned to the regular shelf.

If you would like to place a hold on materials that are currently checked out, please send a request to the library at tujlib@temple.libanswers.com. Your e-mail should include your name and complete information on the item you would like held for you (Call Number, Title, Author, Date of Publication).

If you need a book that is currently checked out, you can also send us a request via e-mail to tujlib@temple.libanswers.com

SUGGEST A PURCHASE

If you would like to recommend that the library purchase an item please send a request via our Suggest a Purchase Form .

We always try our best to get what you need when you need it.

Note that we won't purchase items that we already own, but are currently checked out. Additionally, we can't guarantee that all items will be purchased nor can we guarantee how long it will take for new items to arrive.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN - REQUESTING MATERIALS NOT OWNED BY TUJ

For TUJ Students and Faculty

It is often possible to obtain items via Interlibrary Loan from other higher-education institutions located in Japan. If there is an item of interest, please send a request to the library by submitting the Interlibrary Request form .

For Users Not Associated with TUJ

If you are not associated with TUJ, but would like to borrow books that are owned by TUJ, please make note of the title and call number and contact your local library (your affiliated university or public library) and request that they borrow the materials for you. TUJ lends library materials to outside institutions, but not to individuals.
