Alexander is a Partner (Tokyo Dispute Resolution) of Ashurst, a prominent international law firm. He specializes in compliance matters involving sanctions, anti-bribery/corruption, anti-money laundering and other regulatory matters. During his 15 years practicing law in both New York and Tokyo, Alexander gained substantial experience advising companies across Asia and, particularly, Japanese corporations, with respect to all aspects of compliance – establishing policies and procedures, conducting transactional due diligence, and conducting internal and regulatory investigations related to the US FCPA, sanctions, export controls, cybersecurity, product liability, etc.
Alexander is qualified in New York State, the Russian Federation and as a solicitor of England & Wales. He is also registered as Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi with the Daini Tokyo Bar Association.
Alexander speaks English, French, Japanese, Russian and Ukrainian.
Alexander is co-Chair and co-founder of LLAN (LGBT & Allies Network, a Japanese NPO promoting LGBT rights) and a Board member of TELL (Tokyo English Language Life Line, a Japanese NPO focusing on promoting mental health and suicide prevention). He also supports an orphanage near Yangon, Myanmar and serves as a Friendship Ambassador of Hachijojima island.
