SALARY & BENEFITS

Commensurate with experience.

Eleven (11) days paid vacation in the first year, increasing to 20 days after 6 years of employment, plus 5 paid “personal and sick days” each year. In addition, approximately two weeks company-wide break over Christmas/New Year. Overview of Position

The Educational Technology Specialist provides frontline support to faculty and staff in the use of instructional technology and ensures that content meets accessibility and compliance requirements. Reporting to the Director of Digital Education, the support technician assists with course development, troubleshooting, and training to ensure effective technology-enhanced instruction.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct technical support to faculty and staff using Canvas and other instructional technologies
  • Assist in developing course materials for face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery
  • Troubleshoot software, course management systems, and instructional applications
  • Support faculty and staff in ensuring materials meet accessibility (Section 508) and U.S. federal compliance standards
  • Deliver one-on-one consultations, tutorials, and training sessions for faculty and staff on technology use
  • Assist in evaluating, testing, and documenting new instructional technology tools
  • Maintain organized records of support requests, training, and solutions
  • Collaborate with the Director on the implementation of technology projects and professional development initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of higher education experience providing instructional technology or faculty support
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (Canvas preferred)
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal and accreditation requirements for online education
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and English communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technology and provide one-on-one training and support to faculty of varying technical proficiency
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Solid working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Microsoft Office, image and multimedia editing software

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience as a distance learning student in higher education
  • Ability to create faculty-facing resources (e.g., guides, tutorials, videos)
  • Experience in an international or cross-cultural higher education environment
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
