TUJ full-time faculty contracts are for fixed terms and may be extended after successful review. In accordance with university standards and Japanese law, successful full-time faculty are eligible for an indefinite contract after five years.

Salary & Benefits

In accordance with the pay scale determined and used in this program. Support is also offered for conferences, travel, and other research/creative related expenses. Annual bonuses may be possible.

Art Program at TUJ invites applications for one student-centered full-time faculty member to start in the Fall semester, 2026.

TUJ offers undergraduate programs to a broad mix of over 3,300 Japanese and non-Japanese degree-seeking students who will earn their degrees from Temple University through the Japan campus. Every semester, additional undergraduate students from Temple’s main campus and other universities converge on our campus for a short-term study abroad experience.

In one of the most dynamic cities in the world, we offer twelve full undergraduate majors ranging from Art to International Business to Psychological Studies. Our faculty and staff are international, with nearly 100 full-time faculty joined by experienced administrators and many part-time adjunct faculty from the professions, business, and the arts. TUJ holds classes in the fall and spring semesters (15 weeks) and over a well-enrolled 10-week summer semester.

Overview of Positions

Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Graphic Design starting Fall 2026. Our Bachelor of Arts in Art program seeks a designer-educator with experience in typography, UX/UI design, and the ability to teach undergraduate design foundation courses along with advanced courses and support the growth of our graphic design concentration. A strong portfolio of professional practice and/or research relevant to the field, experience in higher education, and an ability to engage students in traditional and digital design processes in an international and multicultural environment are required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An MFA in Graphic Design or closely related field is required at the time of appointment.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the university level
