Areas of Expertise

Professor Horiguchi is a socio-cultural and medical anthropologist whose geographical focus has been on Japan.

Teaching Interests

Professor Horiguchi has taught General Education courses on youth and cultural diversity as well as specialized courses in the anthropology of Japan and medical anthropology.

Research

Professor Horiguchi's research interests lie in the social and medical anthropology of Japan, with a particular focus on youth mental health issues, education, and emerging multiculturalism in contemporary Japan. She has also been involved in medical anthropology education for medical professionals (especially those in primary care).
