Sanctions regimes continue to evolve in response to geopolitical developments around the world and domestically in the US. These regulatory changes, increasingly conflicting with each other – in cases of US/Iran/EU and US/China, have a direct impact on businesses, supply chains and goods. Legal professionals have the responsibility to understand and identify these risks and to anticipate and address misconduct where appropriate.

The seminar will therefore overview recent developments in sanctions, with a particular focus on compliance and ethics obligations of legal professionals, relying on the recent OFAC Compliance Guidance and regulatory communications.

Key topics:

  • Recent developments and trends in Trade Wars & US sanctions, with a specific focus on export controls (Huawei), Iran, Russia and Venezuela
  • Legal obligations with respect to evolving sanctions regulatory and compliance requirements
