Overview
Arrow-Medium Program Period: December 7, 2026 to December 17, 2026 (3 Weeks)
Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, December 6 and check-out by December 20.
Arrow-Medium Location: TUJ Kyoto (with excursions to nearby cultural and historical sites)
Arrow-Medium For Whom: The program welcomes a wide range of participants, including TU and TUJ alumni, parents of TUJ students, and members of the public who are eager to explore Japan and pursue lifelong learning. We also warmly welcome past participants of the Adult Study Abroad program at Temple Rome who wish to continue their journey with TUJ in Tokyo.
Arrow-Medium Program Fee: JPY 240,000 (approximately USD 1,503 at ¥159 = $1)
(Deposit: ¥120,000 non-refundable deposit due within 4 weeks of acceptance)
What’s included:
- All classes at TUJ Kyoto
- At least one group lunch or dinner per week
- Admissions for afternoon field trips
- Other program-related costs
Special Discount: ¥20,000 program fee reduction for participants using University apartments
Optional University Housing
Arrow-Medium Optional University Housing: 170,000 JPY (approx. USD 1,070 at ¥159 = $1; about $71 per night for 15 nights)
TUJ offers modestly furnished studio apartments within a reasonable commuting distance of campus. Only 30 university housing spots are available. Spaces will be secured on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of the deposit.
Each studio includes:
- Bed and desk
- Mini-sofa
- Kitchen with fridge, microwave, glassware, pans, and range
- Washer (in-unit)
Participant Responsibilities (not included in tuition)
- Airfare: Travel to and within Japan is not included. Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights and local transportation (e.g., trains).
- Accommodations: University housing is optional. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, self-booking is recommended; however, TUJ can provide information on special rates at select hotels.
- Insurance: All participants are required to obtain travel and health insurance for the duration of the program.
- Visa Sponsorship: Not available. Invitation letters can be provided upon request to support your visa application.
Optional Excursions
Part of the program is designed to give participants the flexibility to explore Kyoto and other parts of Japan on their own. In addition to the scheduled excursions included in the program, TUJ can connect participants with a local travel agency to arrange guided tours — either individually or in small groups.
