Students posing for photos with a large red cow statue in front of a Japanese castle

Escape the heat of the summer in the mountains of Aizu Wakamatsu in Northern Japan! To start our adventure, we will visit Ouchijuku, an old trade post and the Tsurugajo Castle. After painting our own Akabeko, the “mascot” of the region, we will spend the night in Higashiyama Onsen, a charming hot-spring village.

On the second day, we will explore Goshikinuma, 5 lakes formed by a volcanic eruption. Before returning to Tokyo, we will stop at Sazaedo, a temple with a unique and tragic story.
