We will ride a bus up the mountain from Sanjo Keihan at 10:51, explore the World Heritage Enryaku-ji temple compound’s main buildings, ring the enormous, resonating temple bell, have a bite of lunch and then walk through a forest to the cable-car (with Japan’s steepest incline) for the ride down to Yase, boarding a cute, historic tram for the ride back to Kyoto’s Demachiyanagi Stn, arriving by about 5:00pm. If the weather permits we will have views of Japan’s largest Lake Biwa and the entire Kyoto valley ~ sometimes all the way to Osaka!
Pray for clear weather and join for a forested, deeply spiritual, culturally infused outing! Sign up and join next Sat, July 5th‘s Hieizan excursion led by David Satterwhite, TUJ’s faculty Experiential Education Coordinator in Kyoto.
