When you think of skiing and snowboarding, you might not initially think it's something you can enjoy in Kyoto, but that's only partially correct! In our neighboring Shiga Prefecture is the mountain area known as Biwako Valley, home to the fastest cable car in all of Japan! Riding this very cable car to the top takes just 5 minutes, and from these dizzying peaks you can bask in the majesty of a view of the entirety of Lake Biwa.

From December to March, Biwako Valley has it's ski/snowboarding season, so of course we'll be taking advantage of this for one of our spring semester engagement activities. Being so close to Kyoto, we'll be off in the morning and back in time for supper too! You'll be able to spend the day either skiing or snowboarding, and there are other attractions to enjoy such as the snow park where you can build a snowman, make snow angels, or engage in a light hearted snowball fight. Why not enjoy one last cold escape before things start to warm up for spring?
