Yuzen dyeing (yuuzenzome) is one of Japan's most famous forms of fabric dyeing. With the help of our friends at Itoko, a traditional Kyoto based kimono maker, you'll spend the day learning all about the intensive processes that go into farming and producing silk, along with the eventual weaving that turns them into incredible pieces of clothing, such as kimono. You can even try your hand at a traditional silk fabric weaving machine!
Finish off the afternoon with a hands on Yuzen dyeing workshop where you'll be able to dye your own custom piece of fabric, finishing it with real gold leaf, and then taking it home in a specially designed acrylic frame for your personal enjoyment and decoration. Don't miss out on this incredibly unique opportunity to try out one of Kyoto's high-class traditional arts for your self!
