What to Prepare

Here are the documents required to apply for the Master of Science Communication Management Program at TUJ KYOTO

Application Form

Fill out and submit the Online Application Form New Tab.

Upon submission you will receive a reply email containing a link for your personal application portal with instructions on how to submit the required documents. Do not send any of the below documents via email, all documents be submitted via the admissions portal.

Resume

Current resume or curriculum vitae required.

Statement of Goals

In approximately 1,000 words, explain:

  • How will the MS in Communication Management program advance your career goals?
  • What interests, experiences, and achievements will you bring to the program?

This statement is used to assess your institutional fit, i.e., how you will benefit from our program and what you will contribute to our learning community. The strongest statement integrates your answers to these prompts into a coherent essay. Toward this end, please review the descriptions of our program and curriculum, incorporating this content into your statement.

Writing Sample

If you elect to not submit GRE scores, you are required to submit one of the options below so that your readiness and ability/potential to engage rigorously with graduate-level work can be assessed:

  • Professional writing samples that you produced in a professional capacity, such as a project report, public relations release, or any internal communications. Please include a cover sheet indicating the purpose of the piece, intended audience and if any analysis was done.
  • Academic paper or published article. Please include a cover sheet identifying the course and term for which the academic paper was written or for what publication and on what date the material was published.
Letters of Reference
  • Number Required: 2

From Whom? Letters of recommendation should be obtained from evaluators who are able to provide insight into the applicant's potential for professional achievement and aptitude for graduate study.

Transcripts

All applicants must present credentials that are the equivalent of the baccalaureate degree at Temple University. You must submit official transcripts. Submit transcripts from all credit-bearing post-secondary academic institution attended.

If you graduated from a US or university, the official transcripts are required. If you graduated from non-US universities, unofficial transcripts will be accepted during the application review process; sealed and certified official transcripts or mark sheets in English will be required upon admission and enrollment.

Electronic transcripts submitted directly from the institution to Temple University Japan admissions office are considered sealed and certified. If you are a Temple University graduate, please request a transcript to Temple University Office of the University Registrar .

Standardized Test Scores

GRE: Optional. If provided, scores at or above the 65th percentile are expected.

Language Proficiency

Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master’s degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums:

  • TOEFL iBT® Test: 105
  • IELTS Academic: 7.0
  • Duolingo: 110

Application Fees

Once you complete your application, you will be asked to pay a nonrefundable application fee of ¥12,000. Please wait for the payment instructions which will be sent by email.

Upon your payment, the admissions interview (in-person or online) will be scheduled as the final application process.
