Biography

Born near Detroit, Michigan, Professor Sigel has taught for several years at multiple universities in Japan at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Professor Sigel has held senior management positions in the Japan affiliates of major U.S. companies in the fields of pharmaceuticals and finance and ran his own healthcare consultancy.

For 5 years Professor Sigel was responsible for bilateral trade negotiations between the U.S. and Japan while at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and spent 7 years working as a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Department of State, with assignments in Mexico, Japan and Washington, D.C.
