Teaching Interests

Philosophy of art; Introduction to philosophy, ethics, and logic for students from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds; Asian and Japanese philosophy; intercultural and comparative philosophy; gender and society; critical reading and academic writing in the humanities. I have taught in English, Japanese, German, and Spanish at universities in Japan, Germany, and Argentina, and I design courses that treat philosophical texts as tools students can use to interpret their own social and cultural situation.

Research

My research examines how philosophical concepts travel between cultural contexts and acquire political meaning in the process. My first book, Phänomenologie der Angst (Mohr Siebeck, 2022), reconstructs the role symbol and myth in Schelling and Friedrich Creuzer. My second book, Myth and Ideology (Mimesis International, 2023), traces Miki Kiyoshi and Tosaka Jun mobilized theories of myth in response to nationalism and technological modernity.
I also co-edited the first Japanese-language volume on the Kyoto School and gender (Yohakusha, 2025) and a German-language introduction to Latin American philosophy (Tübingen University Press, 2024).
