Professor Doug Hymas serves as Japan Country Executive for the BNY Mellon Group, holding leadership positions in each of the firm's four regulated entities: manager of the Tokyo Branch; chairman of the securities company: director of the asset management company; and director of the trust bank. Professor Hymas has worked in the legal and financial sectors in Japan since 1991. From 2009 to 2014, Professor Hymas was President and CEO of ING Mutual Funds Management Company (Japan), Ltd. He has also served as President and Representative Director of Wachovia Securities (Japan); head of the Mutual Fund Sales Department at Legg Mason Securities Co., Ltd. (formerly Citicorp Securities Limited); and Legal Counsel and Director of Citigroup Asset Management's Financial Product Development Department. He specializes in international business transactions including legal structures, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, securities, tax implications, regulatory issues, and other related matters. He is Chairman of the Investment Management Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan. A member of the State Bar of California, Professor Hymas is fluent in Japanese. Professor Hymas has published articles on transnational banking and international debt.
