About the Distinguished Lecturer Series

The Distinguished Lecturer Series brings internationally recognized TESOL and Applied Linguistics scholars to TUJ for intensive weekend seminars. Each seminar can be taken for elective credit for the master's and doctoral degrees.

The first three hours of each seminar are free and open to the general public. Alumni of TUJ's Graduate College of Education are welcome to attend the entire weekend without charge; the weekend auditing fee for others is ¥13,000 (Non-refundable). Registrants will be charged the amount of a credit-course (¥89,000).

How to Attend

Please sign up with the Seminar Sign-up Form below. Select the seminar you wish to attend from the drop-down list in the form.

Even if you sign-up for the entire seminar through "Seminar Sign-Up Form", you will be required to confirm your intention to stay for the remaining sessions by email after the public session. Further instructions will be provided on the first seminar day.

Payment Method

We accept payment for the guest auditor's fee (¥13,000, non-refundable) by credit card or bank transfer.
The payment instructions will be provided in a separate email after the first day public session.
All credit card payments include a non-refundable 2.0% convenience fee.
For payment by bank transfer, the amount should not include bank charges, for which the guest official auditor is responsible. Wire transfer must be made using the guest auditor's name.
If you are alumni of TUJ's Graduate College of Education, you may attend the entire seminar free of charge.

Wishing to take a seminar for credit?

If you are a current student at TUJ and would like to register for a seminar for credit, do not use the Seminar Sign-Up Form. You must register for seminars during the official registration period of each semester.

You may add/drop seminars during the regular add/drop period. If you miss the regular add/drop period, you may still add/drop seminars on the first day of each seminar until one hour after the first session ends. Add/Drops for seminars are available only to those who registered either for the seminars or other regular courses during the official registration period.

If you registered for a seminar during the official registration period but that registration was cancelled because you missed the tuition payment deadline, you may re-register for the seminar during the regular add/drop period or on the first day of each seminar until one hour after the first session ends, but you must pay a late registration fee of ¥5,500.
