Online/Hybrid courses follow the same registration procedure as on-campus classes.

Make sure you've spoken to your TUJ Academic Advisor before registering for online or hybrid courses. There are some cases where due to Student Visa status, for example, you may need to limit the number of online courses you take in a given term.

When it's time to register for your courses in TUPortal:

Online Courses

Select FULLY ONLINE in the SCHEDULE TYPE drop-down menu. All TUJ fully online course sections are numbered with (75X).

Make sure to read the "notes" for the class in the course schedule before registering, so you understand the course format.

  • IF the Fully Online course list specific days and times, this means the course is Synchronous and you are required to attend class live on Zoom on those days, at the specific listed times.
  • IF the Fully Online course does not list any days and times, this means that the course is Asynchronous. This means all teaching and course activities occur in the learning management system, Canvas, but does not occur live at the same day or time. There are specific deadlines for readings, course content and assignments that you must complete each week.

Sometimes a Fully Online course will be a combination of Synchronous and Asynchronous formats.

Hybrid Courses

Select HYBRID in the SECTION TYPE drop-down menu. All TUJ Hybrid course sections are numbered with (77X).

  • Hybrid courses have both online components (either Synchronous, Asynchronous or both) AND also require in-person meetings on campus.

Make sure to read the "notes" for the class in the course schedule before registering, so you understand the course format.
