Dear TUJ community:

With summer semester in full swing and the last day of regular undergraduate classes exactly one month away, we hope that your semester is going well.

Return to Campus and Normal Operations (Next Monday – June 21st)

Next Monday, TUJ will return to normal operations on schedule. In-person classes can resume meetings in the building on June 21st.

As previously mentioned, local health officials did not ask the University to shift online or ever find that the TUJ community was in danger. Professors and students were not deemed to be close contacts. Out of an abundance of caution though, we felt that it was in the best interest of our community to take special precautions due to three positive COVID tests among over 1,500 students enrolled at TUJ this semester.

Fortunately, the COVID symptoms encountered by our three students were mild or non-existent. No additional concerns have arisen since our decision on June 4th to temporarily shift classes online. As mentioned previously, in a classroom setting where the students are wearing masks and practicing social distancing, research shows that the spread of COVID is hindered significantly especially where there is ventilation in the room.

[REMINDER] COVID Protocols

To keep our campus community healthy, we appreciate your diligence in observing COVID-prevention protocols. This includes:

  • Ensuring the adequate ventilation of classrooms (cracked windows/open doors)
  • Following social distancing recommendations
  • Wearing masks
  • Washing hands regularly
  • Not coming to school when you feel ill.
  • Promptly notifying our Information Center (tujinfo@tuj.temple.edu or 03-5441-9800) if it is determined that you have contracted COVID-19, show COVID-like symptoms, or have been deemed to be a close contact by local health officials.

As a reminder, our COVID protocols can be accessed at TU Portal. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these matters.

I hope that you have a great week and look forward to connecting with you soon.

Sincerely,
Matthew Wilson
Dean
