Sports Night (Open Gym)

Start off the semester making new friends through playing sports and cheering on your classmates! Indoor gym shoes required to participate (separate from the ones you wear outside). We will meet at TUJ and walk over to the gym together (approx. 15 min walk).

TUJ Cycling Club: Odawara + Forest Adventure

A day trip out of the city! We meet @ Odawara station at 8:50am Climb atop a treetop obstacle course, explore Odawara, group games, get a teaser for spring flowers & relax at the onsen. We'll use bicycles to get to and from each stop. - If bringing your own bike you'll need to have it in a bicycle bag to bring it on the train. Akita Winter Festival Trip

Bundle up and step into the remote northern region of Akita to discover the beauty of its nature and folklore. The first day we will travel to the Oga Peninsula to learn more about the Namahage demons before stopping by the Oga Aquarium. At night, we will enjoy the Namahage Sedo Festival, where we will see the Namahage demons dancing around bonfires in the forest. Samurai Sword Workshop

Learn from the hand of a sword master, Sakaguchi-sensei, the ancient techniques of Japanese swords. In his dojo near the Imperial Palace, we will learn how to handle a Japanese sword and will finish the workshop by slicing through a rolled up tatami mat with a real katana. Seems easy... but only those who follow the sensei's instructions will succeed!

TUJ Cycling need an original logo to represent our social media profiles and publications. Instead of paying an outside entity, we believe it is better to give the opportunity to TUJ students. The Logo should represent the club’s tenacity, one or more of its activities & or cycling. It should primarily consist of Temple University colors, contain TUJ themes & designed with the consideration that it may be used in the designing of our new cycling jersey in the future.…

Paintball Day

Fire in the hole! Suit up, team up, and grab your gun to go to war - paint war! We will go to War Zone, located in Chiba for a day of paintball adventure! After paintball, we will go to a hot spring facility in the area to “de-paint” ourselves and relax. See trip overview on Tripline. Aizome Workshop

Aizome (indigo dyeing) is characterized by a deep blue color that is also called “Japan blue” and it has been treasured by Japanese people since ancient times. This workshop will take place in a small studio in the historic neighborhood of Iriya. We will use a white TUJ t-shirt so you will have your very own indigo dye unique TUJ t-shirt!
