(Register by: October 16)
Max Capacity: 70 (TUJ students only)
Make a seasonal trek to the remote Nagano region, in west Japan!
Our first stop will be in the city of Iida, where we will navigate the Tenryu River while enjoying the views of the autumn leaves. We will then go to Tsumago-juku, a former trading post on the old Nakansendo route that still has buildings from the Edo Period. We will end the day with a short walk through Nezame-no-toko, a ravine designated as a ‘Japanese Place of Scenic Beauty’. We will spend the night in a traditional hostel in a small village in the mountains. During the second day we will go to the Akasawa Forest, to enjoy the momiji colors from a small, quaint and charming train. Afterwards, we will enter the Japanese Alps to gaze across the Kamikochi valley, which offers some of Japan’s most spectacular mountain scenery.
