The aim of the TUJ Counseling Office is to help students increase their self-awareness, improve their problem-solving skills, and accomplish their personal and academic goals. Services provided by professional counselors include individual counseling, group counseling, and workshops and seminars. We offer the counseling service both in English and Japanese.
Information obtained during counseling sessions and testing services is kept strictly confidential.
24/7 Telephone Mental Health Services
An emergency professional mental health service is available by telephone 24/7, whenever a TUJ student has a need.
The hotline services can be accessed by calling the toll-free telephone number below, at any time of day and any day of the week (24/7). Undergraduate and graduate students of Temple University, Japan Campus are eligible to use the hotline, although the services will be provided in English:

This hotline is a part of TUJ's counseling services but will be provided by the professional behavioral health staff of ProtoCall, a US-based company. They will share the information with TUJ Counseling Office, which will be kept confidential.
Weekly Support Groups
Managing Distress & Gaining Connection
TUJ counselors are here to support you as you navigate the challenges of life and the inevitable changes brought on by the pandemic. This is an open group for TUJ students to come together and discuss academic and emotional distress, learn new ways to cope, and connect with peers. While this is not a therapy group in the traditional sense, we hope this can be a supportive and therapeutic space and we look forward to hearing how you have been coping while also sharing any skills or coping strategies we believe may be beneficial. Additionally, while confidentiality is not guaranteed, we ask all members joining the conversation to be in a private setting, enable video and audio Zoom functions, and to be respectful of others in group.
