Temple University’s Global Ranking on Par with Top Japanese Universities –World University Rankings 2022, by Times Higher Education–

Temple University in Pennsylvania, the U.S. established its Japan campus (TUJ, Dean Matthew J. Wilson) in 1982 in Tokyo. Operated by the state of Pennsylvania, Temple University is recognized for its world-class academic excellence in many of its institutions.

On September 2nd, 2021, the Times Higher Education (THE) announced its World University Rankings for 2022, ranking Temple University in the No. 301–350 group.

THE 2022 ranks two Japanese universities in the Top 100 with University of Tokyo at No. 35 and Kyoto University at No. 61. As with THE 2021, the No. 201–250 group includes Tohoku University. And the No. 301–350 group has Temple University, Osaka University, and the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The 2022 rankings are almost the same as they were in 2021.

TUJ currently has students from 60 countries and regions. As a higher education institution offering American college degrees in Japan, it is a viable option for students seeking a truly international environment.

Besides undergraduate and graduate degree programs, TUJ offers non-degree programs such as academic English and continuing education programs for the public who want to keep learning.

TUJ’s total enrollment of all the programs is about 4,000. Our Liberal Arts program keeps classes small, averaging 19 students per class. Besides long-term internships, we also hold hybrid classes to cope with Covid-19. We started HyFlex classes and next-generation leadership programs to expand the horizons of students and deepen their learning.
