TUJ Philosophy Lecture Series Presents: “Transience/Difference”

Event Description

Professor Reid Raud analyzes the importance of the category of difference in the works of Giles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida and Martin Heidegger in relation to the category of transience in Buddhist thought, notably in the work of Dogen — both difference and transience here taken as fundamental characteristics of Being. Finally, Raud approaches these concepts through the analysis of various metaphysical discourses used to articulate them. The purpose of this talk is to demonstrate a possibility of a comparative analysis. This is the fifth installment in the “TUJ Philosophy Lecture Series,” organized by Adjunct Professor Jordanco Sekulovski.
