Lecture Topic

Since the 2008 global financial crisis, a convergence of technological developments and regulatory changes has been driving innovation in financial services worldwide.

Blockchain is seen as a game changer in several areas of society and in finance in particular, enabling new business models, greater efficiencies and enhanced transparency.

This lecture will give an overview of how blockchain is being tested and utilized in the financial sector across various markets and will provide an in-depth analysis of specific case studies where blockchain has been successfully deployed.

Maurizio is the founder and CEO of Finetiq Limited, a FinTech management consulting firm active in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Maurizio has 20 years of international finance experience, with expertise in credit derivatives, structured finance and fund management. Maurizio's most recent roles were as Managing Director at UniCredit Bank AG, the investment banking arm of UniCredit SpA, and as Partner at TriSpan LLP, an asset management firm based in London, where he was Co-Chief Investment Officer of TriSpan’s global macro fund. Maurizio is a mentor at SuperCharger, a leading accelerator in Asia; an advisor to AdvisingAsia, a consulting firm in Bangkok; adjunct professor at NYU-SPS in Tokyo; and a scientific committee member for LUMSA University's Master in FinTech & Innovation. Maurizio holds an MPhil in financial economics from the University of Cambridge and a first class honors degree in economics and management from Royal Holloway College of the University of London.
