Design for Agile Project Management (Two-day Workshop) (BPM203-SP)
While large firms often use plan-driven (or waterfall) project management, fast companies today rely increasingly on design know-how and the agile mind-set. This workshop introduces both of these new approaches, emphasizing their synergies and how they can be leveraged for product discovery and delivery. The workshop is based not on theory, but on recent history and practice; Specifically, on a two-year engagement by the instructor providing consultation in design on a portfolio of projects in mainland China. The workshop activities are practical: case study and role play. With the case as context, participants play a variety of management roles in an agile organization, including scrummaster, product owner, product manager, and executive. Participants will also dive into the evolution of design know-how, from the mid-20th century up to 2020. The workshop provides references to founders in design and agile, as well as to today's thought leaders and communities of practice. Those who would benefit from this workshop include: new to project management wishing an immersive, real-world intro to the current state of the art, Traditional (waterfall) project managers wishing to "brush up" their agile/entrepreneurial skills, agile project managers wishing a systemic, practical intro to design thinking/know-how.
