Project management has become a business-critical practice for Asia-Pacific organizations today. If you would like to see why and to start to develop a practice that suits our time and place, then this course is for you. We will follow a mini-case study involving two Asia-Pacific firms that have contracted on a project critical to both their futures. We will look at the sequence of growing challenges faced by the project manager as things begin to go wrong by using a framework of key jobs for project definition, planning, and implementation. You'll work with colleagues to understand how well these jobs were done in the case, and to see how doing them better might help - in the case and in your own project. Participants who complete the course should be better able to collaborate and to deliver more successful projects for their organizations. This weekend course (1.2 CEUs, 2 days, 6 hours each day) can serve busy people as an intensive or refresher course in project management. It is also a convenient way to complete a portion of the educational requirement for obtaining or maintaining PMI certification as a Professional Project Manager (PMP).

Daniel Clapper, PMP
Dan Clapper is an applied linguist, learning architect and entrepreneur with 30 years of international experience. He graduated from Stanford University with a A.B. in English (Phi Beta Kappa), he earned an M.S. in Cybernetic Systems from San Jose State University and an M.S.Ed. in TESOL from Temple University Japan Campus. He now holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. He has two decades of success as a manager of innovative educational projects at enterprise scale, including work with government, schools, universities and businesses in 16 countries. In 2004 he was invited by the US Department of Defense to speak on US foreign language education for the post 9/11 era.
