SDGs: Issues in Sustainable Development (5 Weeks) (SDG101)
This course is for anyone wanting to gain a basic understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), current trends and the connection between issues. The course will investigate core issues facing global society and how these are being addressed. These investigations will provide an understanding of current issues in international development, broader awareness of the connection between these issues, and an overview of the diverse methods for solving global problems. Pre-readings and guiding questions will help participants engage with the key themes. Those wishing to know more about global issues and sustainable development agendas, those preparing for overseas study or volunteer work, or those involved in the nonprofit sector will especially benefit from this course.
Sarajean Rossitto is a Tokyo-based nonprofit NGO consultant focusing on NGO skills development training, nonprofit project development, and social issue publication development. She spent 4 years coordinating bilateral exchange of nonprofit professionals between the US and Japan for Japan-US Community Exchange (JUCEE). Sarajean also worked for 6 years with the Tokyo YMCA. She holds an undergraduate degree in sociology and a Master's in International Affairs with a Focus on human rights in East Asia from Columbia University. See her interview here.
