Has your boss ever asked you to translate some business documents from Japanese to English? It could range from a simple business email or memo to the more complicated task of summarizing the minutes of a meeting or issuing a press release, or even writing some simple training manual for a new employee at your office. If so, you probably found yourself sometimes groping for the right word or phrase to express the exact meaning you wanted to convey. Rarely does a direct translation work when one is dealing with two different languages; but getting the right nuance or tone can "make it or break it" in business situations, especially when one is trying to develop a good relationship with a client.
This 5-week course will help you become aware of common mistakes in business document translations and which English words or phrases will help to get the right meaning across. It will also help boost your confidence in the art of translation in business settings. Make sure your boss knows that you possess this skill!
This course will run on the following five Saturdays in Fall 2018: 10/27, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24 and 12/1
